Broken Dreams

Poetry

Broken dreams
Bitter words erupted from lips
That once kissed with sweet caress

Arrow pierced wounds
Wept in quiet sufferance
Now scars of remembrance

A heart still beats, but softly now
The soul, convalescing
Only time will tell, perhaps heal

Too much, and too late
Forgiveness left long ago
On silent wings of acceptance

New Stories of Old

Poetry

Home again, amongst the gum trees
Whispering stories of long ago.
"Where have you been, they ask?
Tell us what you now know."

"Time, pretends to move so slowly
Yet it passes by in the blink of an eye."

Kookaburra laughs with glee
Peering down from a mottled bough
“What can you share with me?”

"The view never changes,
Through eyes that do not wish to see."

Wind arrives, to dance and play
Looking for things it can uncover
"Tell me, what did you discover?"

"There’s no better journey’s-end
Than the one that finds heart’s true desire."

Kookaburra puffs his chest with pride
Wind chases its tail in spiral prance
And the old gums nod, approvingly.

Home again, amongst the gum trees
Recounting new stories of old
Listen to them, carefully…
You’ll find the treasures they hold.

Spider Affirmation

Poetry

I’m not afraid of spiders
Or wonder if they’re there
When sitting down outside
I don’t look ‘neath the chair

I’m not one to check the eaves
When walking out the door
If I spot a cobweb hanging
I don’t want to explore

If a spider comes inside
It doesn’t bother me one bit
You won’t see me taking off
A banshee in a screaming fit

A spider gets frightened
When it sees me coming near
There’s no need for me to recoil
With apprehension and fear

So now my spider affirmation
Has been repeated for the day
I’ll just check that dark corner
With my can of spider spray. J
